Rohingya

The suffering of the Rohingya people in Myanmar began with their persecution and displacement from their country in the early 1950s;
they are considered one of the most persecuted minority groups in the world. In response to this humanitarian crises,
the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hosted the first Rohingya refugee from Myanmar in 1957 (corresponding to 1366 AH). Rohingya refugees continued to arrive to the Kingdom until their number reached over 250,000, a number which represents about more than 1.2% of the total Saudi population. Most of the Rohingya refugees living in the Kingdom reside in three Saudi cities: Makkah, Jeddah, and Medina.
