The international community witnessed a serious refugee crisis as a result of the ongoing conflict in Syria, which began in 2011. Responding to this issue in a sustainable and humane way, Saudi Arabia has provided humanitarian assistance to Syrians both inside and outside of Syria. The Kingdom has also hosted Syrian refugees and has taken a number of measures to help alleviate their suffering, providing free education, health care services and employment opportunities to give Syrian families living in the Kingdom the chance to live productive, happy lives.
